What is personal information?

In this Privacy Policy, the term 'personal information' has the same meaning as it does in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). In general terms, personal information is information (whether fact or opinion) about an individual who is identified, or reasonably identifiable from that information or other information combined with that information.

Some types of personal information are classified as 'sensitive information' and/or 'health information', which are subject to additional protection under the Privacy Act. Sensitive information may include information about your racial origin and health status; and health information may include information about a health-related service you have had or will receive, including test results and appointment details.

What types of personal information do we collect?

The types of personal information we collect about you will depend on the purpose for which the personal information is collected. This can include:

  • in the case of customers that have an Account with us or a Zyft-approved merchant and are using our products or services while accessing a Zyft-approved merchant ecommerce website that you are registered with – your name, shipping and billing address, date of birth, email address, telephone number(s) (if applicable), and other relevant account information, to the extent provided by you in each case;
  • if you have contacted us to make a complaint, provide feedback, submit an enquiry, request a call-back – your name, mailing or street address, email address, and telephone number(s) to the extent provided by you in each case;
  • in the case of prospective employees or contractors – information contained in your application or résumé, recorded during any interview, or obtained through any pre-employment checks to the extent provided by you in each case; and
  • in the case of our suppliers and distributors – your name, mailing or street address, email address, and telephone number(s).

Generally, we will not collect sensitive information about you. However, in certain circumstances, we may need to collect some limited sensitive information. For example, as part of the recruitment process, we may obtain police background checks. When we do collect sensitive information, we will only collect that sensitive information that is necessary for the purpose and will deal with it in accordance with our obligations under applicable privacy laws.
